Colombo (International Desk) International fast food chain McDonald’s has closed all 12 of its stores in Sri Lanka.

According to the American company’s lawyer, it was decided to close all the outlets in the country after the agreement with the local partner ended.

McDonald’s attorney Santh Vijayvardane claimed that ‘the parent company has terminated the contract with the franchisee due to quality issues as it can no longer do business in the country. However, they can come back again with a new franchisee.’

He said the agreement expired last week but the franchisees continued to work for a few days.

On the other hand, the spokesperson of the local partner Abans has refused to comment on it.

It should be noted that the Indian Ocean island of 22 million people, Sri Lanka, is currently trying to get out of a major financial crisis.
