Normal life was affected in five districts of Manipur’s Imphal Valley on Wednesday due to an organization called by the Meitei Joint Action Committee (JAC) to protest against the abduction of two youths.
According to the police, shops and other business establishments remained closed. The protesters blocked roads in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnopur, Kaching and Thoubal districts. In Thoubal, where the bandh started on Tuesday morning, women blocked NH 102 at Fair Ground, Wangjing, Yaripok and Khangabok.
JAC coordinator L Subhol said that the agitation will continue till the release of the youth. It is worth noting that three young men from Tuval district were allegedly kidnapped in Kangpokpi last week.
