China Unemployment: Neighboring China may claim to be the world’s second largest economic power, but unemployment is on the rise there. The situation is so bad that the government has stopped releasing unemployment figures. In July last year, the unemployment rate in China had increased to 5.3 percent. Meanwhile, a grocery store in China has published a job advertisement looking for young cashiers between the ages of 18 and 30. This ad has flooded Chinese social media with painful posts.

Chinese citizens looking for jobs in the sluggish economy are posting various types of posts on Weibo social media. 14 crore people have seen this ad so far and more than 41,000 people have commented emotionally on it. “It’s not easy to get a job in China anymore,” a user in the city of Ningbo in the eastern province of Zhejiang posted on social media platform Weibo.

One netizen wrote, “Do you think it’s easier to find a job now?” Another Weibo user wrote, “I just turned 33 this year but have been looking for a job for three years.” Some have said the ad highlights the plight of a large middle-aged (31 to 40) population group as the government focuses on combating high youth unemployment and dealing with record high graduate unemployment college. for middle-aged or unemployed people over 30.

A young user shared his plight and wrote, “I am only 29 years old, single and have no children, but after graduation, I have been fired from my job three times. Due to lack of responsibility, Despite this , so far no company has responded to my resume.”

Another user posted with an angry emoji that earlier it was difficult for people over 35 to find a job, now that it has fallen to the age barrier of 30 years. In such a situation, there has been a huge increase in the number of unemployed people in China who are over 30 and have children. Currently, the retirement age for men in China is 60 years, while the normal retirement age for women is 55, but women who work in factories must retire at 50.

The latest advertisement published by a Chinese grocery store for people between 18 and 30 years old is not the first case. Earlier, a similar case of discrimination had come to light in a recent advertisement of the Pangdonglai supermarket chain. The maximum age for the positions Pangdonglai sought to fill was 30 years. The supermarket declined to comment.
