Illegally operated crushers turn deadly (file)
Illegal stone crushers are found on the border of West Bengal near Jamtara. Where workers lose their lives in one form or another every day. The latest incident comes from the Jamari area. Where a person has died while working in the white stone crushing plant. Local people said that the stone dust entered the lungs through the nose and mouth and that the person suffered from a complex disease called silicosis.
Saheb Bauri (33), resident of Jemari of Basudebpur-Jemari Gram Panchayat area of Salanpur block died. He was undergoing treatment in Kolkata. As soon as the dead body reached the village, the family members started crying bitterly.

It is worth noting that dozens of illegal stone factories are running in Jemari, Dhaminberia, Lalganj, Netaji Colony and Kashi Dangal Mauza. Saheb Bauri used to work here. After working for about six months, he started complaining of a cough. After an examination, doctors discovered that he was suffering from a disease called silicosis. The lungs are choked with white dust and stone powder. Sometimes stone powder also comes out along with cough. Neighbors said that after falling ill, he was taken to Kolkata for treatment. Where he died after treatment.
Local people are protesting
Since the incident, local residents have protested against these factories. People say that after cutting large stones from the pit, various small chips are made in these factories. Because of this, white dust has covered the area on a large scale. People suffer more pollution especially after the night. Apart from humans, plants and crops are also harmed. According to local people, many people have died while working in these factories. Despite this, many illegal factories run in the middle of residential and populated areas.
