Scottish Power said those living in the postcodes G42 0BX, G44 4NA, G44 4NB, G44 4NF, G73 2EB, G73 2EE, G73 2EF, G73 2ES and G73 2RG were affected by a power cut.

It comes after engineers from the company carried out an ’emergency shutdown’ to the areas power supply at 3.15am on Friday, April 5, to work alongside 999 crews to repair damage to a power box on Curtis Avenue in Brothchellen.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they attended the incident.

They said it involved a car hitting an electrical box.

Electricity in the area is expected to return today at 12:00.

A spokesman for Scottish Power said: “This is a notice to customers in the G42 and G44 postcode areas in Glasgow.

“Our engineers had to carry out an emergency shutdown at 3.15am to work with the emergency services to repair damage to an electrical box on Curtis Avenue and this may affect the supply to your property.

“We will work to restore your power as quickly and safely as possible by 12pm.”
