Quebec’s professional association of real estate agents says home sales in the Montreal area rose 14.2% in March compared to the same month last year.
The association says that house sales in the area totaled 4,488 in the month, compared to 3,930 in March 2023.
But he says this level of business activity remains below the historical average for this time of year.
The median price for all housing types rose year-over-year, led by a 5.6 percent increase in the price of a single-family home to $565,000 last month.
Meanwhile, the median price for a complex increased 5.5% to $750,000 and the median price for a condominium rose 4.9% to $400,000.
Active listings for March jumped 17.1% from a year earlier to 18,707, while new listings rose 10.4% to 6,973.
