Guwahati: The Assam Police seized over 263 grams of heroin with an estimated value of Rs 50 lakh and arrested two persons in Golghat on April 24.

The operation carried out on Wednesday night was aimed at dismantling a large drug trafficking ring operating in the area.

Under the command of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Das, the Crime Branch team acted on a tip about two suspected drug dealers. At around 11 pm, they intercepted a hatchback near Rungmati toll gate in Dargaon. After a thorough search of the vehicle, the team discovered 22 packets of heroin hidden inside the bass tubes of the car’s music system, located in the trunk.
According to reports, one of the detainees, Muhammad Ali known as Fusu, has a history of involvement in drug trafficking.
Golghat police contacted X to release, “263.79 grams of heroin in 22 cases of soap inside a soundbox in Car dikki. Our team busted an inter-state drug-trafficking ring with two veteran peddlers tonight.”
