According to the Weather Forecasting Agency, there will be light to moderate rain from October 4 to October 8, while the 9th and 10th will see heavy rains and thunderstorms, especially in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura.

Heavy rain is expected in isolated places of Arunachal, Assam and Meghalaya on Thursday. These observations come after an upper air cyclonic circulation was observed over northern Bangladesh and near the West Bengal Sub-Himalayan, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.

In a related development, due to increased heavy rains in Assam, artisans had to cover their idols with plastic wrap as this affected the work flow of the idol making process.

For now, artisans and citizens alike are waiting with baited breath for the humid weather to subside as it may affect the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations in the long run.
