Opposition BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao has written a letter to CM Revanth Reddy. “CM Revanth Reddy, you are misleading the country by saying that Telangana government has successfully implemented farmer loan waiver up to Rs. 2 lakh,” he said. The Chief Minister claims that the Telangana government has completed the crop loan waiver up to 2 lakhs. This is completely false. This is evident from the data given by State Bank of India on 25-09-2024 to the RTI filed by me.
Out of 5,74,137 farmers who got loans below one lakh in SBI, only 2,99,445 farmers’ loans were waived off.
The total number of farmers who have availed loans of Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh in SBI is 2,62,341 and so far only 1,30,915 farmers have been waived off their loans.
The number of farmers getting loans between 1.5 to 2 lakhs in SBI is 1,65,607. So far only 65,231 farmers’ loans have been waived. The data clearly shows that about 5,06,494 lakh farmers ie about 50% of farmers’ loans are not waived in SBI alone. It may be the same in other banks.
- In the letter, he said that he would also waive the loans of farmers whose debt is more than 2 lakhs. He said that the farmers will be exempted after paying the amount of more than 2 lakhs. The SBI report says that many farmers have paid too much before too long. Many farmers believed the CM’s words and took huge loans. “Now, the government has imposed 31 kinds of conditions, so many people are ineligible to be exempted,” said Harish Rao.
