Guwahati: A girl was arrested on Friday, September 27 evening by the Dispore police for allegedly murdering her mother, Manju Devi, at their home in Purnima Estate, Chechal, Guwahati.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Tanya Kumari, beat her 40-year-old mother to death with a mortar following a heated argument. The incident apparently took place around 7:30 pm while the girl’s father, Deep Chand Prasad, a tennis coach, was away.
According to police sources, the mother and daughter were involved in a heated argument that quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, Tanya allegedly grabbed the heavy mortar blade and repeatedly hit her mother, causing fatal injuries.
Neighbors called the authorities after hearing the commotion. The Dispore police arrived at the scene shortly after, where they arrested the accused and took her into custody.
An officer from the Dispoor police station confirmed that the accused is now under investigation, and a full investigation is underway to uncover the details surrounding the incident.
