The Ministry of Civil Aviation will open a large number of flight routes to promote air connectivity. Officials in the department provided information that the government also plans to streamline the rules of all large and small airports.

India is one of the fastest growing civil aviation markets in the world. With the increase in air traffic in India, it is also increasing its number of aircraft.

The number of airports increased from 74 to 157 in 10 years

Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Wemlunmang Walnam, said that in the last ten years, the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 to 157. More air routes will now be developed as part of the Brownfield project. The ministry reviewed the list of 453 aircraft routes and about 157 of them are operational. Along with this, efforts are being made to develop many defense airfields for defense.

“The air connectivity of tier 2-3 cities will be better”

Addressing the CAPA India Aviation Summit 2024 held in the capital Delhi, Minister Vumlunmang said that the ministry is considering making rules for all major and minor airports. All these steps are being taken to improve the air connectivity of tier 2 and 3 cities. IndiGo and Air India have ordered a large number of aircraft. which includes very large planes.

An effort to reduce carbon emissions

The government will create an excellent ecosystem for airlines and their expansion. The secretary said that the office is working in this direction so that there will be no problem in the MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) of the aircraft because of tax. The government is also committed to the sustainable use of aviation fuel amid efforts to reduce global carbon emissions.

The Secretary, who was speaking in relation to the Cape Town Treaty on Aircraft Leasing, said the Government was fully prepared to do the paperwork to make it law.

Domestic traffic is expected to grow by 6-8 percent to 161-164 million and international traffic is expected to grow by 9-11 percent to 75-78 million in 2024-25.
