Guwahati: The Gurchuk police have arrested four people involved in an armed robbery that took place on September 25 at a dump yard in Daukhotal, Pamohi. The incident occurred at around 11:20 PM when three armed men forcibly entered the place and robbed a trunk that contained cash, important documents and a mobile phone.

The victim, Mamir Mia, reported that he was attacked along with his family before fleeing the scene in a vehicle towards Lalong Gaon.
Following the incident, the police responded quickly and discovered at the scene a magazine loaded with five rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, allegedly belonging to one of the suspects. A case was registered at the Gorchuk police station according to relevant sections of the law.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects had previously visited the dumping ground to collect money under the guise of “Lakhit Sena, Assam”.
The arrested suspects are: Dulal Dutta (Chandan), 35, a Lakhit Sena member from Changsari; Prasanta Kalita, 36, of Dharmatul Bargot, Murgaon, identified himself as senior reporter at News18 Asom; Kartik Kalita, 30, a former candidate of the Aam Admi Party; Monuranjan Boruah, 28, Lakhit Sena secretary.
Dulal Dutta was caught on September 27 in Changsari, where the police found a receipt book linked to Lachit Sena. During the interrogation, Dutta confessed to the robbery and named his accomplices. Following this, Kartik Kalita was arrested near his shop in Lamatti, while Prasanta Kalita was taken into custody near the railway headquarters in Meligaon, where he was driving a vehicle linked to the crime. Boruch was arrested at his residence, and the stolen trunk was found on the side of the road near Lalong Gaon.
Seized items:
– One pistol magazine with five rounds of 7.65mm ammunition was found at the crime scene.
– Dulal Dutta’s scooter which he used to collect donations for the Sena school, Assam.
– Money receipt books of Lakhit Sena Talgiri, Assam recovered from accused Dulal Dutta
– Two factory-made pistols
– 1 pistol magazine along with 4 numbers of 7.65mm ammunition from the four-wheeled vehicle belonging to Prasanta Kalita
– A four-wheeled vehicle belonging to Presanta Kalita
– One steel charge
