Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, along with other accused, were involved in financial irregularities and made ill-gotten gains. This information emerged in the results of the preliminary investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). An official said this on Saturday.
Ghosh was posted at Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital from 2016 to 2018. He was then sent to National Medical College and Hospital, Calcutta, where he stayed till February 2021. He was then given charge of RG Kar Hospital.
The CBI investigation also revealed that Ghosh had given the contract to a cafe inside the hospital to the organization of his security guard’s wife, the officer said. Both were shopkeepers in Murshidabad. When Ghosh became the director of RG Kar Hospital, he brought him to Kolkata. They were given priority in supplying goods to the hospital. According to him, an investigation also revealed that Gush and other defendants were involved in criminal activities from which they obtained profits. The official said the CBI is also looking into Ghosh’s security guard role. Suraksha used to contact the suppliers and sell the biomedical waste of the hospital.
