Today, the oath taking ceremony was held in the upper house of the Senedd where the newly elected senators took their oath.
Neither Faisal Vawda, who was elected senator as an independent candidate, nor JUI senator Maulana Abdul Wasi took oath.
President Ishaq Dar administered the oath to the newly elected senators.

On the other hand, People’s Party leader and Senator Yusuf Raza Gilani was elected Senate Speaker unopposed and Muslim League (N)’s Sardar Syedal Khan Nasir was elected Senate Deputy Speaker unopposed.
Unlike Yousuf Raza Gilani and Sardar Syedal Khan Nasir, no candidate has submitted nomination papers for the chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate.
Yusuf Raza Gilani and Sardar Syedal Khan Nasir will be sworn in as Chairman and Deputy Chairman at 12.30 pm.
