Elephants created havoc in Vanakatia and Nandaria villages in Baharagora block of Chakulia range late on Saturday night. The heat destroyed more than two and a half acres of paddy crops in the two villages. After receiving information about the arrival of elephants in the fields at night, the QRT of the Forest Department chased the elephants. But as soon as the morning came, the elephants arrived again in the forest near the village. The Forestry Department has provided compensation forms to the farmers. Providing torches, firecrackers and mobile phones to the villagers to drive the elephants away. The forest guard, Santosh Ghosh, said that material has been provided to the villagers to drive the elephants away. A compensation form has also been distributed.

More than 60 elephants roam the Chakulia range
