The conflict between the ruling party and the opposition has intensified in relation to the Lok Sabha Speaker Election, and both sides are engaging in strategy and aligning allies to win their candidate.

Om Birla is contesting for the post of Speaker for the second time from the ruling NDA side. However, from the opposition ‘India’, Congress MP K. Suresh has made her a candidate. BJP MP Om Birla has been elected MP from Kota Rajasthan. K Suresh of Congress has won from Mavelikara constituency in Kerala. Suresh has been elected MP for 8 consecutive times.

Before submitting nomination papers for the post of Speaker, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge from the NDA side and asked him to support the NDA candidate for the post of Speaker. At this time, Kharge said that the opposition party was ready to support the Speaker’s post, but insisted that the Deputy Speaker’s post should be given to the opposition party. Rahul Gandhi said that Rajnath Singh, who said he would call after discussing this time, has not called yet. Therefore, in the background of not getting any response from the ruling party, the opposition parties have presented their candidate.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, responding to reporters yesterday, said in the newspaper that Prime Minister Modi had said that the opposition should cooperate with the government. Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh called our President Mallikarjuna Kharge and asked him to support the NDA candidate for the post of Speaker. Kharge demanded from Rajnath Singh that he would support the NDA for the candidate who speaks on behalf of the entire opposition alliance and that the post of deputy speaker should be given to the opposition. But Rajnath Singh, who said he will call again and inform about this, did not call again. On one hand, Prime Minister Modi is asking for the cooperation of the opposition, but on the other hand, he is insulting our leader. Their intentions are not clear. Narendra Modi does not want any constructive cooperation. “There is a tradition that the Deputy Speaker should be from the opposition party. If the tradition is maintained, we will give full support,” said Rahul.

So the NDA has 293 MPs in Lok Sabha. But, the ‘India’ coalition has 233 MPs. Apart from this, other MPs have a majority of 16 MPs. Among the NDA members, the BJP has 240 MPs, TDP 16, JD(U) 12, LJP Ram Vilas 5, JDS 2, Jana Sena 2 and Rashtriya Lok Dal 2 MPs. Besides, NCP 1, HAM 1, Assam Gana Parishad 1, United People’s Party Liberal 1, Apna Dal 1, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha 1, all Jharkhand Students Union seat 1.

On the other hand, the opposition Indian League has 233 MPs, of which the Congress has 98 MPs. Apart from this, the list of other MPs includes 16 MPs who have not supported the NDA alliance or the All India alliance. The number of independent MPs is 7. Also, YSR Congress Party has 4. MIAM 1 and Azad Samaj Party 1, Shiromani Akali Dal 1, VPP 1 and ZPM 1.
