The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice to Congress leader Randeep Surjewala for his remarks against BJP leader Hema Malini. The Commission asked them to reply by 17:00 on April 11. The EU sought action against party president Malikarjun Kharj to ensure respectful public discourse towards women by political leaders and office bearers.
EC said the electoral process cannot be allowed to become a platform for insulting women. The Congress President will respond to all party leaders during the public meeting on the steps taken by the party to ensure strict compliance with the advice of the Committee for Upholding the Dignity and Dignity of Women.
