The Election Commission (EC) will visit Maharashtra and Jharkhand next week. This visit is intended to take stock of the preparations for the assembly elections. Sources gave this information on Saturday.

The commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, will reach Jharkhand on September 23-24 and Maharashtra on September 27-28. Last time the Maharashtra and Haryana elections were held simultaneously. But this time the Election Commission decided to hold the elections of the two countries at different times. The last elections in Jharkhand were separate.

The term of the Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 26. Whereas the term of the Jharkhand Assembly will end on January 5. Elections are already underway in Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas in Haryana the voting will be held on October 5. The Delhi assembly elections are expected to be held in February.
