The e-Panchayat scheme, launched by the central government in 2011-12 to make all information at the panchayat level available with a single click, is faltering. Under this, information about schemes and development works to be carried out under Gram Panchayat, applications were to be uploaded online. Operators were appointed under the scheme, but their appointments were canceled in 2015. The program has been crawling ever since. Most of the 11,656 panchayats in the country were to be brought in the electronic model. But the whereabouts of the computers distributed to the panchayats during that period is not known. Panchayats certainly purchased computers with their own money, but did not hire staff.
The secretaries posted in most panchayats do not know how to operate computers. In such a situation, private operators upload peon data somewhere. To know the status of this plan, Bhaskar got to know the ground reality of the villages near the capital, namely Sajbahar, Tamri, Mana, Mozghan, Buriyakhurd, Khilora, Datranga and Khorpa. It was revealed that panchayat workers do not even know the name of e-Panchayat scheme. It is claimed that the Hamer Gaon Hamer program is currently operating. But on investigation this too turned out to be wrong.
