I am an Assistant Divisional Manager at LIC in Dr. Manorama, Patna. He started his job in 1985. That was the era of thick registers in the office and documents tied in clothes.

Over the years, everything changed; a bundle of registers was replaced by a computer. Likewise, I am also always upgrading myself.

Although she was attached to the job, she did not limit herself to anything and did whatever she felt like doing. Participate in car rally, play national tournaments in swimming and athletics.

Even today I participate in national swimming games. My story today in Dainik Bhaskar’s ‘Yeh Main Hoon’.

My mother never touched me, this sister used to beat me a lot.

Chhapra is my ancestral home. The father was a police officer. It was still being transferred. So, I studied in Kolkata, Chittaranjan, Asansol, wherever my father was posted.

I was normal in studies. After becoming 10th, we started living permanently in Kankarbagh, Patna. Elder sister and my younger brother would be in the house.

My mother never beat me harshly but my elder sister used to beat me a lot for my mistakes. But she was also worried. She would help me in my studies.

My mother and father always motivated me to study. I graduated from Magadh Mahila College.

Got a job in LIC during PG.

She was doing after graduating from Darmbhaga House of Patna University. At the time my friend was also studying with me. At that time I only wanted to do UPSC.

Papa also used to say that preparation for civil services. But my friend said that LIC form has come out, fill it. I kept saying ‘no’ but later they both filled in the form.

Gave the exam and cleared the mains, but my friend couldn’t pass. I got the job.

Manorama has participated in many national tournaments in badminton.

Manorama has participated in many national tournaments in badminton.

After 1 month he was told that he got a job in LIC

He would leave home for college and attend classes at Darbhanga House. He would run there and reach the office. He would work all day and return home at night.

I didn’t tell anyone at home that I got a job in LIC. He was afraid that mother and father would refuse.

I come from a wealthy family, my father is a police officer, why do I need this job? If you have to do a job then the civil services are fine.

Keep the job issue hidden from parents for 1 month. Mother would ask why you leave so early in the morning and return in the evening, how many classes you have. Then we answer somehow and leave.

Bought a bracelet for mother and a watch for father from the first salary.

He worked while studying at college. Got a first salary of Rs 1,200. With that money he bought a bracelet for his mother and a watch for his father. He put a watch on father’s hand and said your daughter bought it with her own earnings. Told him the job was secured.

He said if you are doing a job now then do it. Work with dedication and hard work and move forward. I implemented this lesson from my father in my life. With hard work I was promoted and salary increased.

Then I continued to fulfill every hobby that came to my mind. Along with the job, studies were also going on. I was the only working person among all my friends, so I was also safe for them.

Be it serving golgappas, chaat or any party, I pay all the expenses for it. Friends also rightly say that if you do a job then you will pay the costs too.

Whatever work she was forbidden to do, she would definitely do it.

My nature remained this way since childhood. If someone at home told me not to do this job, I would have done the same. When some people used to say that this work is not for women, I used to find it challenging and challenging to know what work there is that I cannot do.

Going to Bhutan, Nepal in a car rally

I had a passion for adventure from the beginning. While driving the car, I started to enjoy it. Bought a sports car. Participated in Bhutan International Car Rally from Patna. It was the most exciting experience of my life.

The car drove at an altitude of 10,000 feet. With a ditch on one side and high mountains on the other, the weather would change every few kilometres.

In some places there is thick fog, clouds flying over the road and in other places it is raining. In such a situation, it was very difficult to drive the car but I completed it and reached ‘Dochula Pass’.

I received the Best Female Driver award in this car rally held in 2017. Participated in a car rally from Patna to Tansen, Nepal in 2018.

Played badminton nationals at age 55

When there is passion, age is no barrier. I have always considered myself a sportsman. Since her childhood, she participated in many sports, especially badminton and athletics.

When I used to play wearing short clothes, my mother would scold me not to play wearing these clothes. But dad always supported me.

Today I am over 55 years old but games attract me. In the institute where I am, I am encouraged to participate in games.

I have been a badminton player and a swimmer. In 2008, I was the badminton champion in LIC East Central District.

He also participated in National Level Masters Badminton Championship in 2018. He also participated in Yonex Sunrise 46 Indian Masters National Badminton Championship in Panchkula in March this year itself.

In 2017 I took part in the National Level Masters Swimming Competition. I have been a member of the LIC Sports Promotion Board between 2019 and 2022.

never stop reading

When I joined the job, a large part of my salary was spent on books. He would buy and read books on different subjects. A large library was built in the house itself.

After MA, he did LLB from Patna University. He then did a PhD in International Terrorism. He studied Cyber Law from IGNOU. He also took a degree in journalism.

The specialty of my personality is that even after reaching this age, my hunger for learning did not disappear. I don’t know when I will like it and decide to learn.
