1. Kejriwal arrested in Delhi Liquor Policy case, Sisodia-Sanjay Singh in jail in same case.
Arvind Kejriwal was taken from CM House to ED office after his arrest.
ED arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Liquor Policy case after 2 hours of questioning. The team arrived at his home to question him, and during this time the house was also searched. In this case, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia is in jail for 13 months and AAP leader Sanjay Singh is in jail for 6 months.
ED had sent 9 summonses: Even after 9 summons, Kejriwal did not appear before the investigating agency for questioning. On Thursday, the Delhi High Court had rejected Kejriwal’s petition seeking relief from arrest in the liquor policy case. The court said that Kejriwal will have to appear before the ED, there is no stay on his arrest.
Sitting CM arrested for first time: Kejriwal is the first sitting CM to be arrested. Earlier, former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was arrested by ED. Soren had resigned from ED custody by going to Raj Bhavan.
Hearing possible in the Supreme Court today: Kejriwal’s legal team has appealed in the Supreme Court against the arrest. The court can hear this today. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party will protest outside the BJP headquarters from 10 am. Also, there will be nationwide demonstrations against Kejriwal’s arrest.

2. Third BJP list, 9 names from Tamil Nadu; Third Congress list, 56 names from 7 states
BJP released the third list for Lok Sabha elections. There are 9 Tamil Nadu names in this. Tamilisai Sundararajan, former Governor of Telangana, has been given the ticket from South Chennai. BJP chief K. Annamalai has been given the ticket from Coimbatore and Union Minister L Murugan from Nilgiris.
On the other hand, in the third Congress list, there are names of 56 candidates from 7 states and one union territory. Sonal Patel will fight against Amit Shah from Gandhinagar seat. Sikar seat in Rajasthan has been left for CPI-M. The names of Adhir Ranjan Choudhary from Baharampur, West Bengal and Vasant Rao Chavan from Nanded, Maharashtra have been announced.
276 BJP candidates said: There are 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, out of which BJP has given 10 seats to Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK). So far BJP has announced candidates for 276 seats.
138 of Congress Applicants declared: So far the Congress has declared the names of 138 candidates. The third list includes 17 candidates from Karnataka, 11 from Gujarat, 7 from Maharashtra, 8 from West Bengal, 5 from Rajasthan, 5 from Congress, 2 from Arunachal Pradesh and one from Puducherry.

3. Rituraj Gaikwad became the captain of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni left the command

The court had said on February 27, 2024, ‘Patanjali is deceiving the country by making misleading claims that its medicines will cure certain diseases, while there is no concrete evidence of this.’ After this, Yogaguru Ramdev was asked to appear on April 2 in the hearing held on March 19.

5. SBI handed over details of electoral bonds to EC, also gave serial number of each bond.
SBI told the Supreme Court that it has handed over all information related to electoral bonds including serial numbers to the Election Commission. The Electoral Commission has also uploaded the new data on its website. The serial number of the bond will provide information about the party exchanging it. Last time, the Supreme Court had reprimanded the Chairman of SBI for not getting this information.
What order did the court give: On March 18, the Supreme Court had ordered SBI to provide all the information including alphanumeric number and serial number, date of purchase and amount of each bond by 5 pm on March 21. SBI wrote in the affidavit given in the Supreme Court, apart from the bank account number and KYC, no details have been withheld. Due to security reasons, KYC numbers of donors and political parties have not been published.

6. SC refuses to ban the appointment of election commissioners, saying it will lead to chaos
The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking to stay the appointment of two new election commissioners, Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. The court said, ‘We cannot stop the Appointment of Election Commissioners Act 2023 at this time, because it will lead to chaos. With elections around the corner, the balance has to be considered as there are no allegations against those appointed.
Election commissioner appointment process: In fact, on March 2, 2023, the Supreme Court ordered that a panel appoint the election commissioners. The Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and CJI will be included in it. Earlier, only the central government used to select them.
However, on 21 December 2023, the Central Government passed the bill relating to appointment in the Senedd. Under this, the election commissioners will be appointed by a panel of 3 members. It will include the Prime Minister, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and a cabinet minister. The CJI was kept out of the panel.
