New Delhi (August 07): The Congress has hit back at Bharatiya Janata Party Mallikarjuna Kharge’s (BJP) criticism that he had “incorrectly” referred to Article 371 while talking about the abrogation of Article 370. The opposition party claimed that president the Congress has revealed the “Modi-Shah” plan to make changes in Article 371 “unknowingly”.

It may be mentioned that the BJP targeted Congress president Kharge for insulting the central government over the abrogation of Article 370. Home Minister Amit Shah said that the opposition’s ‘Italian culture’, which does not understand the concept of India, is to blame. Shah and other party leaders, including BJP president JP Nadda, shared a video of Kharge’s speech on social media platform ‘X’, in which he targeted the central government for abrogating Article 370 in Rajasthan.

In this case, the Congress chief wrongly referred to Article 371 instead of Article 370. Responding to the BJP’s criticism, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “In his speech in Jaipur today, President Mallikarjuna Kharge wrongly said that credit goes to Modi for abrogating Article 371. He clearly meant Article 370.
