Come to an open discussion before the people of the country: Siddaramaiah’s return to Nirmala

Bangalore: Reacting to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement that the central government was not responsible for the delay in releasing drought relief grants to Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lashed out at the BJP, which runs politics on lies and does not practice truth-telling.

Siddaramaiah, who published a series of posts on social networking site X, said: “Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited Karnataka on April 2, told some lies. Now Nirmala has come and repeated the old lies. But, the people of Karnataka know the truth The injustices that the central government is doing to the country are shocking.

Nirmala said the BJP-led central government had given 697 crore to the state government for drought relief. But, while saying this, they hid the real truth. There are two funds under the central government to provide relief from natural disasters. The first is SDRF and the second is NDRF. Natural calamities of general nature will be compensated by SDRF. 75% of the compensation to be given under this fund will be given by the center while the remaining 25% will be given by the state government. The CM said that the amount of compensation to be given under this will be determined by the Central Finance Committee.

This time the country is suffering huge losses due to the drought. Out of 236 taluks of the state, 223 taluks are affected by drought. 34 lakh farmers in the 48 lakh hectare area of the state suffered crop loss. Our farmers suffered a loss of more than 37 thousand crores. However, we are only asking for a compensation of 18 thousand million dollars from the central government. This compensation must be provided by NDRF itself. The CM expressed outrage that Nirmala was hiding this fact.

In the month of September last year, I wrote a letter to the central BJP government demanding $18,171 million from the NDRF for drought relief. A central team of experts visited and conducted research and gave a report. After that, I (Siddaramaiah) and Revenue Minister Krishna Bir Gowda went to Delhi and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Our Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also met you. Despite this, Sidramaiah wondered if it was not a deliberate injustice by the central government that the meeting of the powerful committee chaired by the interior minister, which is supposed to make a decision on drought aid, has not taken place so far.

The Central Finance Commission has recommended a special grant of ₹5,494 crore considering the injustice done to Karnataka in distribution of taxes and GST relief. Besides, it recommended 3,000 crores for the Bangalore Ring Road and 3,000 crores for the development of Bangalore’s waterways including lakes. However, Finance Minister Nirmala rejected these recommendations and accused the state of being unfair by not spending $11,494 million.

Nirmala lies to cover her mistake. He said the final report did not mention the $5,495 million compensation recommended by the 15th Finance Commission in its first report, which is far from the truth. The 15th Finance Committee did not publish an initial and final report. The Finance Committee, which issued a report limited to one year in 2020-21, published a second report for the period 2021-26. None of the elements of the first report were included in the second report. The CM slammed Nirmala Mahfa about this fact and gives false information.

Nirmala Sitharman herself should not come to the country again and again and bother to lie. Come to a face-to-face discussion only once. to act to conduct an open debate within the capacity of the country’s residents. CM Siddramaiah invited the people to decide who is true and who is false.
