Mainpat of Chhattisgarh is famous for its beauty. Due to its beauty it is also known as Shimla of Chhattisgarh. There were mild storms in Surguja Ambikapur divisional headquarters and a major hail storm in Mainpat. Due to prolonged storm in Parpatiya and Laleya of Mainpat, a scene similar to snowfall started to appear. There has been great damage to the crops here. Due to the influence of western disturbance, the weather suddenly deteriorated in many areas of North Chhattisgarh. Although light clouds could be seen in the sky for a few days, people did not expect that there would be such a big change in the weather on Holi day.

On Monday, the sun was shining since the morning and people were engrossed in Holi fun. Around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, suddenly dark clouds appeared in the sky and a light rain started with thunder. Within no time the rain intensified and then hail storms began.
Ambikapur divisional headquarters also witnessed a hailstorm for the first time this season, though it lasted for some time and did not cause much damage. But there was a big storm in Lalaiya and Parpatiya of Mainpat, the famous tourist destination of Surguja region. Hail fell here for a long time. Because of this the whole area appeared to be covered in snow. A heavy hailstorm has caused massive damage to vegetable crops including wheat and gram in this area of ​​Mainpat.
The weather will change again during the last days of the month
A new system of Western Disturbance is going to become active which will again affect the weather of North Chhattisgarh in the coming days. According to the information, there is a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms and hail storms at some places in several areas of Surguja division on March 30 and 31.
