Installation of a smart prepaid meter has begun in the district

Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) has started installing smart electricity meters in Durg district. Durg Chief Engineer M Jamulkar installed the first smart meter at the home of a consumer named Babita at CSEB Colony, Bhilai 3.

The Central Electricity Authority planned to install smart digital meters in all states. The Authority gave instructions for replacing electronic meters in consumers’ homes and installing smart meters.

A prepaid smart meter will need to be recharged

25 thousand smart meters will be installed in the first phase

Chief Engineer M. Jamulkar said that work has begun to install smart pre-meters in the homes of domestic consumers in the district. In the first phase, the work of installing smart meters in the homes of 25 thousand consumers will be carried out. After that, it will be carried forward after reaching the target.

Chief Engineer M. Jamulkar said that the plan to install smart meters is very important. After installing a smart meter, its operation for the first two months will be according to the electricity bill he paid, i.e. as before.

After that, this meter will be paid in advance from the third month. That is, before using the electricity, the consumer will have to charge it like a mobile phone and the electricity will be supplied accordingly.

What would be the advantage of installing a smart meter?

  1. A smart meter holder will provide precise and accurate meter readings.
  2. Full information on power consumption will be available on mobile.
  3. Information about charging electricity and balancing can only be seen on mobile.
  4. The prepaid smart meter must be charged like a mobile balance.
  5. You will be able to use the same amount of electricity as you charge.
  6. The charging of the meter can be done by all means UPI and the Internet.
  7. Consumers will not be charged for installing smart meters.
  8. Consumers will receive a warning message before the balance is exhausted.

CSPDCL Engineers started it from June 14, 2024 in Durg district. Here the Chief Engineer has started this scheme in Durg district by installing a smart pre-meter in front of it.
