Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the construction of the highest railway bridge in the world has been completed. He shared a video on Twitter about the ‘Chenab Bridge’ which was built at a height of 359 meters on the river Chenab. The Indian government will build the world’s highest railway bridge over the river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir. Konkan Railway has constructed this bridge at an estimated cost of Rs.552 crores.

With the completion of the construction of this bridge connecting Baramulla-Jammu, the six and a half hour travel time between these two places will be reduced by half. It is currently 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the capital of France, and was built to withstand earthquakes and strong winds. Although construction began in 2002, can it withstand strong winds? Construction stopped in 2008 due to doubt. Two years later, doubts about the design were cleared and construction resumed in 2010. It is estimated that 25 thousand tons of iron will be needed for its construction. The parts of this bridge, which is being built in the shape of a rainbow (arc), were made beside the river Chenab and connected to the bridge with the help of two cable cars.
