Kartik Chhath is celebrated on the Shasti of Shukla Paksha of the month of Kartik. And the Chahat festival that falls in the month of Chaitra is called Chaithi Chahat. Chaiti Chhath is celebrated on the sixth day of Shuklapaksha of the month of Chaitra. Whereas Kartik Chahat is celebrated on the Shasti of Shukla Paksha of the month of Kartik. Chaiti Chhath is also celebrated with great pomp.

Bathing and eating: The great festival Chhath starts from the day of Nahay Khay. From today women give up onions and garlic. After bathing in the morning, she wears new clothes and worships the sun god. After that she eats pumpkin and lentil vegetables.
Kharna: Kharna is celebrated on the second day of the Chhath festival. In the Holy Scriptures, Harana was described as meaning purification. These women observe the Nirjala fast from morning to evening and perform Parna in the evening. Women who fast on the day of Kharna first prepare jaggery and rice on a new earthen stove. After that, this feast is offered to Chahti Maya. The Nirjala fast of 36 hours starts from Harna day.
