Aligarh (A.09): The date of Lok Sabha election is getting closer. However, political parties have also intensified their preparations. However, in this election, the independent candidates are also working wholeheartedly and doing everything possible to attract the attention of the voters, an example of which is seen in the Aligarh Lok Sabha constituency wearing a chain of sandals. Last Monday, the withdrawal of nomination papers for the Aligarh Lok Sabha seat was completed. During this period, two candidates, including independent candidates, withdrew their names. Then there will be a fight between 14 candidates. Between March 28 and April 4, a total of 21 people submitted their nomination papers. During this period, the nomination papers of five candidates were rejected and two later withdrew their names.

There are about three and a half lakh Muslim voters in the Aligarh Lok Sabha constituency. But no party has given tickets to Muslim leaders. Satish Kumar Gautam is contesting from the Bharatiya Janata Party. Under the alliance of India, Bijendra Singh has been made a candidate for the Aligarh seat which was held by the Samajwadi Party. Hitendra Kumar alias Bunty Upadhyay contested the election from the Bahujan Samaj Party. It is worth noting that the Aligarh Lok Sabha constituency has been dominated by the BJP since 1991.

In fact, since 1991, there have been a total of 8 Lok Sabha elections where BJP candidates have won 6 times. After 1991, Sheila Gautam won four consecutive elections in 1996, 1998 and 1999, maintaining the supremacy of the BJP. But in 2004 Brijendra Singh of Congress won the election. In 2009, Raj Kumar Chauhan of BSP won. However, after the advent of the Modi wave in 2014, the BJP once again captured the Aligarh Lok Sabha seat.
