The UK general election is less than three weeks away. Now the biggest question facing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is whether he will be able to change the mindset and atmosphere of the country’s voters in such a short time. The reason is that in the polls, the left-wing opposition Labor Party led by Keir Starmer has a double-digit lead over the Conservative Party. The Labor Party’s chances of returning to power after 14 years are getting stronger. During this period, five different Prime Ministers from the Conservative Party have been in power in Britain for 14 years. Sunak’s efforts to change the situation do not seem to have much effect. His biggest mistake of the campaign so far was his decision to skip an international ceremony in France on June 6 to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. He has since apologized for it.

Sonke dissolved the British Parliament on May 30 itself. Now there are supposed to be elections for 650 members of parliament. However, the term of Britain’s current Conservative Party government was due to end in December. But he dissolved parliament six months in advance and called an election.

Starmer could become Prime Minister if Labor wins

If the Labor Party, which is leading in the polls, comes to power this time, then former human rights lawyer and senior opposition leader Keir Starmer could become the new British Prime Minister. Members of Parliament of the ruling party have already fled en masse and many have resigned themselves to defeat. So far, about 129 members of parliament have announced that they will not run for re-election, of which 77 members of parliament are from the conservative ruling party.
