Every year in the UK, more than 6000 people take their own life – each suicide has a devastating and lasting impact on their families, friends and communities.

Faced with a sudden, often unexpected death, the bereaved experience complex grief which usually includes strong feelings of guilt and questions – “why?”.

The discomfort, shame and stigma associated with suicide can make talking about it difficult.

Those bereaved by suicide often feel isolated at a time when they are hurting,

Vicky, Graeme, Korin and Mark, (all bereaved by suicide themselves) set up the Consett support group to support local people bereaved by suicide. The group is held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7pm to 9pm.

Anyone interested in attending the group must be over 18 and have lost someone to suicide. Details of the group will be given on request.
