Guwahati: Former Assam tourism minister and senior Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Chandan Brahma has decided to join rival United People’s Liberal Party (UPPL), which is part of the ruling BJP-led alliance in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Bongaigaon on April 8, Brahma said he would join the UPPL on April 12. He said he will join the party at an event in Kejalgaon and he will be accompanied by leaders from different political parties.
Brahma emphasized that his decision to join the UPPL stems from the need to work towards fostering peace, continuous development and progress in the region.

The move is expected to have a significant impact on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the BTR region.
