BJP worker Sai Prasad has been arrested by the NIA in the Rameshwaram cafe blast case Achi-News

GUWAHATI: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, according to reports on Friday. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Sai Prasad, a BJP activist, in connection with the Rameswaram cafe blast, according to media reports on April 5.

Media sources state that the BJP worker was allegedly called by two mobile shop workers, who were investigated by the NIA last week. He was arrested from Thirthahalli in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. A low-intensity blast at the famous Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru injured at least 10 people on March 1.

Sai Prasad allegedly had contacts with suspects in Theerthahalli and Chikamagaluru.

The NIA had earlier conducted raids on the residences of two youths and a mobile shop owner in Tartahalli.

According to the reports, the investigation revealed that Sai Prasad had a connection with these people, which led to his arrest for further investigation.

It was also revealed that police personnel in Chikmagalur assisted the main conspirator’s mother in securing a rented house. Muzamil Sharaf, the alleged mastermind behind the Bengaluru cafe blast, "Originally from Kalasa, he shifted his mother to Chikmagalur, with the help of the inspector, as revealed by media reports.

Sharaf, the key conspirator, was arrested by the NIA following massive raids across multiple locations in three states in the case, according to reports.

He was picked up as a co-conspirator when the NIA teams cracked 18 locations, including 12 in Karnataka, five in Tamil Nadu and one in Uttar Pradesh.

Other accused in the Rameshwaram blast case The NIA, which took over the case on March 3, said on Friday that the agency has identified the accused who carried out the IED blast as Mubarak Hussain Shazib and a co-conspirator as Abdul Matin Taha.

Both are residents of Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district.

The investigation reportedly revealed that Muzammil Sharef extended logistical support to the other two accused identified in the case, which includes the detonation of an IED at the cafe located on ITPL Road, Brookfield, Bengaluru, on March 1.

The NIA said it has summoned and is probing all the acquaintances, including school friends, of the absconding and arrested accused.

"Since the case is a terrorist incident, any information about the identity of the witnesses may, apart from harming the investigation, also jeopardize the summoning of the people." The NIA added.

The NIA had last month announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each against the two wanted accused Abdul Mateen Ahmed Taha and Musabir Hussain Shazib involved in the Rameswaram cafe blast case.
