US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday that US support for the war in Gaza will depend on new steps being taken to protect civilians and aid workers. Biden and Netanyahu spoke on the phone a few days after Israeli airstrikes killed seven food aid workers in Gaza.

After the phone call between the two senior leaders, the White House released a statement saying that the president clarified to Israel the need to take appropriate measures to protect civilians and aid workers.

He said we have made it clear that US policy on Gaza will only be determined by assessing Israel’s immediate action on this matter. Six international aid workers working for the World Central Kitchen charity and their Palestinian driver were recently killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Thursday that future US support for the war in Gaza depends on new measures to protect civilians and aid workers. Biden and Netanyahu spoke by phone days after Israeli airstrikes killed seven food aid workers in Gaza, adding a new layer of Complexity for the increasingly strained relations of the leaders.
