Drivers hoping to hit the roads in and around Montreal this weekend should be aware of some significant road closures that could lead to headaches and crazy looks on the Waze app.

Prominent closures on the ÃŽle-au-Tour Bridge, Papineau/Lebane Bridge and certain roads in Montreal will lead to traffic congestion and must be planned around.

Those going to the Montreal CF game on Saturday night off the island should take into account that both bridges will be closed and may cause major traffic delays.

Ile-au-Tour Bridge / Highway 40

From Friday at 11pm until Sunday at 5am, the following closures will be in effect:

  • Highway 40 eastbound between Exit 35 (Avenue St. Charles) in Vaudreuil-Dorion and the entrance to Boulevard Anciens-Combattants in Senneville.

As a result, the following closures will be default starting at 11:00 p.m.:

  • At the highway 30 / 40 interchange, the east ramp of highway 40.
  • The entrances to avenue Saint-Charles / avenues Cita-de-Jones and Derech Schno.

Also note:

  • Both westbound lanes on the bridge will remain open.
  • All eastbound tolls on Highway 30 will be suspended at the Serge-Marcil Bridge.

Papineau-Levan Bridge / Highway 19

From Friday 10:00 PM until Monday 4:30 AM, the following closures will be in effect:

  • Between Laval and Montreal (Hanchick-Cartierville district), Papineau-Blanc bridge in both directions.

As a result, the following closure is the default from 21:30:

  • The 440 Freeway is eastbound and westbound to Route 19 South.
  • The Saint-Martin, de la Concorde and Levesque entrances to Highway 19 southbound.

Ville-Marie Expressway (Highway 136)

From Friday at 10:00 PM to Monday at 5:00 AM, the following closures will be in effect:

  • In Montreal (Ville-Marie district), on the Ville-Marie Expressway (R-136) eastbound, Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Exit Berry Street (6)

Samuel de Champlain Bridge (A-10/R-132 interchange)

  • Broussard, one of two lanes will be closed on the ramp leading from Route 132 East / Marie-Victor Boulevard to Route 10 East (towards Sherbrooke), from Friday at 10:00 PM to Monday at 5:00 AM

Boulevard Gaétan-Laberge

  • In Montreal (Le Sud-Ouest district), one of the four lanes will be closed on Boulevard Gaétan-Laberge. Eastbound, at the height of the REM bridge (Mark-Kantin street section), from Friday at 7:00 p.m. to Monday at 4:00 p.m.

Atwater Ave

  • In Montreal (Ville-Marie district), northbound Atwater Avenue will be closed between Sainte-Catherine Street West and Maisonneuve Avenue West from Friday at 7:00 PM to Monday at 7:00 AM.

REM (Metropolitan Express Network)

  • On Saturday, April 27, the REM service will be unavailable between 5:30am and 7:30am due to a systems update. Buses will provide service during this period.

Route 40 (Baie-D’Urfé and Kirkland)

  • Beginning Saturday, April 27, eastbound pavement rehabilitation work will begin on Interstate 40 between Morgan Boulevard in Baie-D’Urfé and Saint-Charles Boulevard in Kirkland. Some traffic jams are expected. Partial or full closure will be required in the evening or almost.

Guy-Lefleur road (A-50) in Mirabel

  • As of April 29, work will resume to replace lighting systems on the Guy-Lefleur road (A-50), in Mirabel, between road 117 (Cure-Labelle boulevard) and Louis-Bison street, and on the Laurentians road (A-15). ) exchange.
  • Full closures that will lead to major detours, especially for heavy vehicles and workers at Montreal-Miraval International Airport, will be in place overnight to limit the impact on traffic flow.

Route 20 (du Souvenir) – Interchange at Pointe-Claire

  • Repair work on the on-ramp at the Source Interchange on Highway 20 (du Souvenir) in Pointe-Claire resumed on April 8. The works will continue until the end of 2024.

Leviolette Bridge / Highway 55 (Trois-Rivières)

  • From Friday at 8:00 p.m. until Monday at 6:30 a.m., two out of four lanes will be closed on the bridge, meaning one lane will be open in each direction.
