Trinamool regional president Balai Maiti and booth president Manovarta Jana were in this list. The investigators went to arrest them on Saturday morning because they did not appear. It is known that the villagers attacked the researchers as soon as they entered the area. Central agencies are affected. Senior NIA officials claimed that at least 100-150 followers surrounded them. Most of them were women, with sticks in their hands.
Meanwhile, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stood by the protesters over the attack on the NIA. On Saturday, the Prime Minister said from a public meeting in Taffan in Blorghat, “Women were not attacked there. NIA attacked. In the dead of night, women move from house to house and dormitories. Women sat with shells in their hands, in these? Shall they sit with a veil on their heads? They will not save their dignity.”
