Attack on convoy of foreign diplomats in Swat, one policeman killed, 3 injured Achi-News

Swat (Web Desk) An attempt has been made to target the convoy of foreign diplomats with explosives on Malam Jabba Road in Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police officers were injured, one injured officer Burhan Khan died during treatment, while all the safe diplomats.

A convoy of foreign diplomats was attacked near Jehanabad.

According to Malakand Deputy Inspector General of Police Muhammad Ali Gandapur, the convoy included diplomats from Bosnia, Russia, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Portugal.

According to Reuters news agency, Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Zahidullah Khan said that the diplomats were visiting the Swat Valley region at the invitation of the local Chamber of Commerce.

He said the police leading the convoy were hit by the roadside bomb.

DIG Malakand said that the blast was done by a remote control device, all the diplomats are completely safe and are going back to Islamabad.

According to the authorities, the police have surrounded the entire area.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

After the death of one of the four officers, three officers, Sarzamin, Hussain Gul and Amanullah Saidu are undergoing treatment at Sharif Hospital.

Statement from the Russian Embassy
In issuing a statement on the above event, the Russian Embassy in Pakistan said that Ambassador Albert Khuraif along with several other ambassadors participated in the Swat Tourism Summit organized by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 22 September.

According to the statement, an escort vehicle hit a land mine on its way to the hotel from Mingora, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as a result of which several police personnel were injured. The diplomats were not harmed.

Condemnation of the Minister of the Interior and the President of the State
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the explosion at the police van in Swat and paid tribute to the martyred police constable Burhan Khan.

The Home Minister expressed his deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of the martyred officer Burhan Khan and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured officers.

President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the explosion in Swat, paid homage to the martyred policeman and expressed his grief to the heirs.

The President of the State said that the terrorist elements are not only the enemies of the country and the nation but also of humanity.

President Asif Zardari expressed his determination to continue his efforts to eradicate terrorism completely and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the blast.

The First Minister called for the report
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has requested a report of the incident from top police officers.

The Prime Minister sympathized with the martyrdom of a police officer in the blast and expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the martyred personnel.

The prime minister prayed for raising the status of the martyr and patience for the bereaved family and said that we are equal participants in the grief of the bereaved family, the martyr’s family will get full financial support, they will not leave him alone.

Ali Amin Gandapur expressed good wishes for the speedy recovery of the police personnel injured in the blast and said that the police had made unprecedented sacrifices to protect the lives and property of the people
