KAHIRPUR: At least four people, including a driver, were killed and 14 others injured when a truck overturned on the highway near Khairpur on Sunday.
According to the police, the truck overturned due to speeding and overtaking. Rescue officials shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital, Khairpur. The condition of three of those injured is said to be serious.
The hospital administration has declared an emergency in the medical facility and called the off-duty doctors and the paramedical staff as well.
The deceased have been identified as Amjad Maitlo, Zeeshan Soomer, Abdul Ghaffar Maitlo, and bus driver Muhammad Sohail.
Police said the truck was traveling from Karachi to Sukkur. The victims of the accident hailed from a village near Rohri.
The victims, who are involved in cattle trade, were returning home after selling animals in Karachi, ahead of Eid ul Adha.
