Guwahati: The Assam Police seized drugs worth $48 million and arrested three people suspected to be involved in illegal trade in two separate anti-narcotics operations.
In the first operation, the Sivasagar police intercepted a truck carrying a shipment of heroin. The action took place on the night between June 16 and 17, when the vehicle entered Assam from Nagaland.

After a thorough examination, the officers discovered 399 soap bags containing heroin weighing 4.6 kilograms. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth £40 million on the illegal market. Police have arrested two suspects involved in this seizure.
In a parallel operation, the Carbi Anglong police seized a considerable amount of morphine. The police acted on specific intelligence information, a raid that led to the recovery of 8.033 kg of morphine.

The value of the seized morphine is estimated at 8 million dollars. One person was arrested in connection with this operation.
