Former federal minister and PTI leader Umar Ayub was elected the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
In this regard, the Secretariat of the National Assembly issued a notice. Umar Ayub will be the leader of the independent members of the opposition.
Umar Ayub along with Gohar Ali Khan and Aamir Dogar met the Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and discussed the issue of appointing the leader of the opposition with him.

Later, Umar Ayub thanked the members of the opposition parties for showing confidence in him.
He said he had come to Parliament to represent the people of Pakistan. He added that those who are brought to the Assembly on crutches would object.
