Precious idols found while digging a well!
Religious idols about 600 years old were found while digging a well near a temple in Thanjavur. Palamalai Nadhar Temple is an ancient site at Pajanjur in Thanjavur district. The temple comes under the Hindu Endowment Charitable Trust. It was decided to dig a well near the temple.
Statues buried under the soil!
Officials were surprised to find valuable artefacts buried under the soil. The sculpture was discovered when the initial soil was removed to prepare a deep bore well. Confused, the officers brought in the JCB and began carefully digging the site, expecting two or three artefacts. But he was shocked to see the number of idols found during excavation.
A total of 14 idols were found!
14 idols including one idol of Vinayaka, 4 idols of Ambala and 2 idols of Dwarbalamughi were found. Shockingly, the sculptures were found 6 feet from the ground. The team also discovered the foundation of the temple. The statues were moved to Pattukottai Tehsildar’s office. Restoring the statues is considered an important research. Because it helps to bring more clarity to the history of the region.
