A delegation of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) visited the Western Command (WNC) of the Indian Navy on Saturday. During this, both sides expressed a commitment to further strengthening cooperation in maritime defense. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on security cooperation between the two countries has been in effect since 2014.
The Indian Navy said that the five-member delegation was briefed on the security situation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The Australian Navy delegation was led by the head of the RAN, Vice Admiral AO Mark Hammond. The delegation interacted with Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. Mutual cooperation between the two navies to deal with maritime challenges was also discussed.
The delegation said that the Indian Navy is doing a good job
The Australian delegation visited the Western Command of the Indian Navy in Mumbai and inspected the destroyer and submarine at the naval shipyard. The delegation was given a complete overview of the capabilities of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited and the ongoing projects for the Indian Navy. In this regard, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond said that the Indian Navy is doing a good job.
