The question is, is there any limit for serving alcoholic beverages on planes? DGCA says it depends on the airline’s discretion. In accordance with clause 4.3 of CAR, care should be taken to ensure that drunk passengers do not overdo it. The victim of the Air India flight, in his petition, asked the Supreme Court to direct the aviation regulator to frame zero tolerance SOPs and regulations to deal strictly with the behavior of any passenger on board. And all airlines should adhere to that policy to the letter.

Air India officials failed to handle the sensitive issue properly, the woman alleged. As a result his dignity has been lost. According to a report by the Times of India, the woman said that the Air India crew served the alleged fellow passenger excessive hard drinks. He also hoped that the DGCA would consider ‘drunk’ passengers as ‘disobedient’.

Air India Beverage Policy: Alcohol is served after passengers are seated. Passengers should refrain from drinking alcohol if they bring it with them.

One drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, a full glass of wine or champagne, and a small bottle.

Alcohol should not be served to those under the age of 18.
