Guwahati: Afghanistan secured a historic 8-run victory (DLS) in the rain-affected Super 8 clash against Bangladesh, marking their first semi-final appearance at a major ICC event. This win also knocked Australia out of the tournament, needing a Bangladesh win to advance.

Rashid Khan was the star of the match, taking four crucial wickets to defend a modest total. Earlier, his 10-ball 19-run cameo helped Afghanistan cross the 100-run mark. After the second rain break, Rashid’s four-wicket haul and Naveen-ul-Hak’s two wickets stifled Bangladesh’s chase.

Despite a valiant half-century by Liton Das, who scored an unbeaten 54, Bangladesh fell short of the revised target of 114.
