In Jharkhand, a 30-year-old youth was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of rape and murder. The issue relates to Kurkutiya village in Naxal-affected Chaibasa district. The young man’s name is Toote Hembram.

In fact, on September 10, a girl from Chirakubeda village had gone to the forest to graze cattle, but did not return. During the search, his body was found without clothes in the forest, 3 kilometers away from the village. The villagers expressed fear of murder after being raped. The police was investigating this matter by registering an FIR against unknown persons.
The mob caught the young man and started beating him and took him to the police station.
Meanwhile, the villagers of Kolhan district suspected Toote Hembram alias Tulaiya of carrying out the incident. After this, on Tuesday, a large number of villagers caught Tulaiya. They started beating him and took him to Goilkera police station, about 12 kilometers away. The police then got information about this.
When police officer Kamlesh Rai arrived with the police team, villagers were beating him at Sharbil Chowk. When the police stopped them, the villagers also pushed the police. The station in-charge somehow rescued him and took him to Goilkera police station. A crowd of villagers also arrived there. He demanded the harshest punishment for the accused.
The mob tied the young man to a pole and beat him on charges of rape and murder.
Death during treatment in hospital
After this, the villagers also beat Tulaiya badly. He was also tied up and beaten. Because of this he was seriously injured. After much effort, the police freed him from the crowd. He was taken to Goilkera Community Health Centre.
From there he was referred to Sadar Chaibasa Hospital. He died late at night during treatment there. SP Ashutosh Shekhar said the youth has died. The whole matter is being investigated.
No mob lynching, FIR under sections of assault
Toote Hembram alias Tulaiya was beaten and seriously injured by the mob. The police rescued him from the mob with great difficulty. He died in hospital, but the police did not register an FIR under Section 103(2) of the Indian Penal Code for mob lynching. Instead, an FIR was lodged against the unknown under section 103(1) of assault causing death.
Apart from this, a case has been registered under Section 115(2) of causing harm intentionally and Section 117 (2) of causing serious harm. It was stated in the FIR that unknown criminals beat the amputated leg which led to his death.
According to the FIR, Toote told the hospital staff that he had a fight with unknown people. He was badly injured in this. The FIR also says that the police received information on the night of September 17.
After this, he was taken to Goilkera Hospital with the help of villagers. When the police arrived at the hospital, the hospital staff said that the person brought to the hospital in an injured condition died of cardiac arrest.
Questions are being raised about the police
The video of this entire incident is going viral. In the video, the faces of those who beat the young man to death are not visible to the police. Goilkera police station commander Kamlesh Rai said the youth was pulled out of the crowd and admitted to hospital. Where he died. In this matter, a case has been registered against unknown persons and investigation is underway.
