The body of an old woman was found in the silt of Balmati river under the Krishna Nagar bridge on the Madhuban-Panhara road in the police station area. On receiving the information, the Madhuban police reached Motihari and sent the unidentified body for post-mortem. Upon receiving information about the drowning, the old woman’s family members arrived at the Madhuban police station. Where the woman was identified as Switri Devi, the 58-year-old wife of Bhikhari Rai, a resident of Krishna Nagar. The family members said that she suffers from mental problems. She used to come to the river bank to defecate. She may have gone into the water after slipping in the river. Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Mauer said the woman’s body has been sent to Motihari for post-mortem.
