At around 1am on January 22 last year, the resident was sleeping in his home in Delmarnock when he woke up to realize someone was outside his house shouting.

He went down to see David Blair, of Bridgeton, under great influence.

Blair, 25, approached and prevented the man from closing the door on him.

He punched the man in the face and dragged him off the property.

The two struggled and the man suffered scratches and red marks.

The incident was seen by two passers-by who called the police.

Around 1:30 a.m., the police arrived and tracked down Blair. He was arrested and warned.

He was escorted into a police car and he became aggressive.

Blair kicked the two officers and caused redness.

He called one policeman a “pi***d king” as he continued to behave aggressively.

Blair appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after admitting violently fighting, kicking and kicking a door while drunk.

He also admitted to assaulting the man and two police officers.

His lawyer said at the hearing: “There is little I can add to that. After all, he had been drinking during the day and he was referring to the rash.

“He went through a difficult time in the last two years.

“His mother and aunt passed away and he resorted to drinking sometimes. That’s no excuse at all.

“He began to recognize that he had to deal with the difficulties he was going through.

“There are no previous convictions, nothing unusual. But these offenses are particularly serious.”

Sheriff Owen Mullen said: “I don’t see how it gets much more serious than that.

“Let me be frank with you, I am thinking of sending this man to prison.

“He attacked a random person in his home and two police officers. He shouted homophobic abuse.”

Blair’s lawyer told the court that his client recognizes the seriousness of the incident.

According to him, “This is a young man, 25 years old, who is trying to deal with his ongoing problems.

“He is a vulnerable young man.

“He is dealing with basic problems.”

The sheriff told Blair: “You’re 25, not 16.

“I must say that it is with some hesitation, but I am willing not to send you to prison.”

Blair was sentenced to 225 hours of unpaid work and tagged for 108 days, requiring him to stay at home between 7pm and 5.45am.

He was also ordered to pay £900.
