As Russia continues to mourn the deaths of the people killed in a brutal attack on Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Republican US Senator Marco Rubio expressed his concerns on Sunday about the terrorist incident, warning that this could happen in his own country.
Last week on March 22, at least 137 people were killed and 182 people were injured when Daesh terrorists attacked a music venue in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region, according to Tass Russian news agency.
Authorities have arrested 11 people who were involved in the attack including four armed men. Vladimir Putin vowed to bring all those involved to justice, declaring March 24 a day of national mourning, he reported.
Marco Rubio said ABC News due to withdrawal from Afghanistan, that terrorists have taken the opportunity to re-establish their operations while expressing concern that the terrorists could be “planning other attacks”.
The Florida Republican recalled that one of the main criticisms of US President Joe Biden’s hasty departure was that it would give “terrorists room to reorganize themselves”.
“Once we’ve left Afghanistan and we’re not there to carry out regular strikes anymore, they can now operate openly. No matter how much the Taliban want to take them, they can’t. They don’t have they have the ability to do that.” ,” Rubio told the outlet.
The 52-year-old said Daesh had now found a place to operate and was likely to look for more.
He also noted that the organization has carried out numerous attacks on Iran and Afghanistan and that “they would love to do what they did in Moscow here in the US.”
