Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 4 runs in the third match of Indian Premier League-2024. KKR, who came into bat first at Eden Gardens on Saturday, scored 208 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target of 209 runs, the Hyderabad team could only score 204 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

During the match, KKR’s Phil Salt hit three consecutive sixes. His team’s bowler Harshit Rana teased Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Mayank Agarwal by making a flying kiss gesture after his dismissal. In the end, Heinrich Klaasen brought excitement to the game, but Suyyash’s catch won the game for KKR.

Sunil Narine was run out on the last ball after Salt hit 3 sixes in the course of Yanson. Salt played a shot at point back on Yanson’s ball, he didn’t want to run. While Narine had crossed half of the crease, he ran back to return, but the ball came straight into the hands of Shahbaz Ahmed and he was run out with a direct throw before Narine could reach back. Narine returned to the pavilion after scoring 2 runs.

3. Yanson took a diving catch
SRH stalwart Marco Yanson took a brilliant catch and dismissed Phil Salt. On the fifth ball of the 14th over off leg-spinner Mayank Markande, Phil Salt stood on one foot and played a big shot towards deep square leg. The ball was ready to cross the line, but then Marco Yanson came running from deep mid-wicket and made a great dive to complete the catch with both hands. Salt was out after scoring 54 runs in 40 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes.

4. Ramandeep failed to hold onto Mayank Agarwal.
Mayank Agarwal failed to catch Ramandeep Singh on Harshit Rana’s ball which brought KKR’s fourth over of the innings. Agarwal flicks the length ball towards deep backward square. Standing there Ramandeep Singh came forward quickly and made an unsuccessful attempt to take the catch by diving.

Sunil Gavaskar, one of the greats of Indian cricket, did not like the behavior of the 22-year-old fast bowler. During the commentary, Gavaskar expressed his displeasure over this action and said that the fast bowler should have celebrated with his teammates and should not be too upset at this point.

6. Chakraborty dropped the Tripathi catch
Varun Chakraborty dropped Rahul Tripathi’s catch in the 9th over of SRH’s innings. On the fourth ball of the 9th over, Sunil Narine bowled a fuller length ball to Chakraborty. Tripathi played it very short while doing a slog sweep. The ball was in the air and Chakravarthy was fielding, but even though the ball came into his hands, it slipped and Tripathi got a life.

7. The ball hit the umpire’s feet due to Tripathi’s shot.
Rahul Tripathi’s shot hit the umpire’s feet. On the last ball of the 10th over, Tripathi tried to hit the ball directly to Suyyash Sharma, but the ball passed through Suyyash’s hands and went straight to the feet of umpire Rohan Pandit. Pandit got hurt and sat on the ground. After getting medical help, he started judging again.

7. Suyyash’s catch turned the game
A brilliant catch by Suyyash Sharma won the match for Kolkata. Sharma’s catch was a big moment in the game. After 26 runs were scored in the 19th over, the game went in favor of SRH. Harshit Rana came to bowl the 20th over. Clausen hit a six on the first ball of the over. After this he took 1 run. The team needed 6 runs off four balls. Shahbad Ahmed was out on the third ball. On the fourth ball, Yanson took one run and gave Clausen a shot. 5 runs were needed from 2 balls and Clason was on strike.

On the fifth ball of the over, Klaasen tried to play a great shot, but the ball hit the edge of his bat and went backwards. Suyash stood, showing exceptional athleticism under pressure, as he sprinted backwards and made a diving catch.

After dismissing Clausen, SRH could not score 5 runs in 1 ball and the team lost the match.
