Ludhiana News: On the instructions of the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni, different teams of the Customs Department are creating awareness against illegal liquor in the areas falling on the banks of the Satluj river. The Excise Department has announced a helpline number-9875961126 for the people. The excise department came to raid Jagraon village in Bet. Illegal money was also recovered. An appeal has been made for the people to report immediately wherever they see illegal liquor being produced or sold.
The name of the person giving the information is kept confidential. The teams led by ETO Harjot Singh, Foreign Inspector Harshpinder Singh, Balkaran Singh under the supervision of AETC Inderjit Singh Nagpal spread awareness through public announcements against illegal liquor including home liquor. AETC Inderjit Singh Nagpal said that this campaign has been launched against the ill effects of illegal alcohol consumption and consumption of homemade liquor in view of the implementation of Model Code of Conduct and the recent unfortunate tragedy in another area. Public talks are held on vehicles to make people aware of the dangers of drinking illegal liquor as it can be toxic and fatal. The campaign will be intensified further in all parts of the area to prevent people from drinking illegal alcohol or at home. Excise Department and Jagraon Police raided Parjian Biharipur village on Saturday and seized 21500 liters of Lahan, 200 bottles of illegal liquor and drums, tools. Joint teams of four customs inspectors including DSP Jagraon Jagraon Jasjyot Singh, AETC Inderjit Singh Nagpal, customs officers Harjot Singh, Upkar Singh, Neeraj Kumar and 40 police personnel conducted a search operation in the village.
