Tantrik, aged 45, had sexually exploited six mentally challenged women in the name of treatment. Also Rs 1.30 crore was taken from his parents.

The Bombay High Court, while giving its verdict against a Tantrik in a sexual harassment case, said that people go to Tantriks and Babas with their problems. This is an unfortunate reality of our time. They exploit people in the name of tantric solutions.

The High Court said- These so called tantriks and babas are taking advantage of the weakness and superstition of the people. These (Tantrik/Babas) not only extort money from people in the guise of solving problems, but sometimes also sexually harass the victims.

The Bombay High Court made this observation while upholding the conviction of a man convicted of sexually assaulting six little girls. A bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Manjusha Deshpande was hearing the case.

The 45-year-old claimed to be a Tantrik. He had sexually exploited mentally challenged women in the name of treatment. Also, Rs 1.30 crore was taken from their parents under the guise of handling minors.

An FIR was registered against Tantrik in 2010
An FIR was registered in this case in the year 2010. A sessions court convicted the Tantrik in 2016 and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The Tantrik challenged the decision of the Sessions Court in the Bombay High Court. The High Court rejected his petition and upheld the sentence.

HC said – this is a strange case of superstition
The High Court had given its decision last month ie in February. The court’s ruling came out on Saturday (2 March). The court said in this – This is a strange case of superstition. This is not a case where the penalty should be reduced. There is solid evidence against the Tantrik and the number of victims is high. In such a situation, his punishment should also be proportionate to the crime.
